Life/ Executive Coaching
Coaching is part of the personal development and training industry that is
estimated to be over US$100bn a year worldwide. Coaching as an independent
profession has been in existence largely in the past 10-15 years. The Sydney
Morning Herald a few years ago reported that personal coaching in the US was
the second fastest growth industry, after IT. Apparently, there are 50,000 searches
per month on Google alone from people looking for a coach. Further, one out of
every five Fortune 500 companies is reported to now have a coach for each of their
senior executives. While this field is at a nascent stage of evolution in Asia, its
already been embraced by a number of multinational and local organizations
across the region.
Industry background
Coaching broadly has three established streams:
Executive coaching, which involves coaching clients in a workplace backdrop,
typically in a corporate business environment.
Business coaching, which involves coaching the founder/ leaders of a small to
mid-size business for their business and personal goals.
Personal coaching, which involves clients from any walk of life seeking positive
